| | MY LATE BIRTHDAY POST
I can't believe I've let myself get this far behind! I haven't even updated on my birthday yet and that was back in mid April! A bunch of major things have happened since then.
- Celebrated my birthday
- Celebrated Adam's birthday
- Thu Hong comes to town
- Made a visit to California for Cousin Charlie's wedding
- New York Dance parade 2009
- Trip to Dublin Ireland
- Visit from Quang and Nancy
- Moved from our first real NYC apt to a new apartment
- Attended Lykke Li concert
- Celebrated Dan's bitrthday
Those are just some of the things I can think of from the top of my head. I like to keep my life busy, but man are things REALLY busy sometimes. I love it!
This post will be be quick and easy and not as thoughtful as some of my past posts, but once I catch up I'll be able to go into more depth again.
Here's a photo of me leaving our apt from Hubby's flickr. Notice how I'm wearing a short sleeved shirt. Lovin' the weather lately.
Out on a nice night in NYC Mommy and Daddy -in-law sent me these flowers for my birthday. They loves me. I'm going to get right to it and let you know how my birthday was. - Mike was my first visitor.
- Birthday Celebration at Xanga Office
- Eli and Son come to town
- Birthday week visitors: Cuzzie, Dennis, Lil Anh, Heather, Jason, and Crystal
First off, let's start with Mike since he got here first to celebrate with me. Mike lives in Las Vegas and always had for the past 10 years we've been good friends. Out of those 10 years, he's only missed one of my birthdays.
He's been a great friend to me throughout all of this time, not only someone that I have fun with, but someone I can confide in and talk to. I love him!
Mike arrived with a surprise for me! Cupcakes from The Cupcakery!
If you're thinkin' these cupcakes looks delicious, you are thinkin' right.
I think I should mention that Mike works very hard. He hardly gets any vacation, I mean really. It was sad how he was able to get this vacation, but I'm still glad he chose a visit to me as his only vacation in a long time. He injured his foot and wasn't able to go to work. Since he had the time off, he decided to come out and see me. On the other hand, since his foot was injured, we couldn't do a lot of walking and that's really how you get around in this city. So we did the best we could.
For my birthday dinner, we went to Blue Ribbon in Soho. We were there for Nam's birthday if you don't remember, but Mike's boss suggested this place to him for his vacation visit so he wanted to try it. What a funny thing too is that we saw his boss there!
Me and Mike in front of Blue Ribbon
Mike and I had lunch together, roamed around my neighborhood together, did some shopping, and snapped some photos.
After Mike left, we had a few days before our next set of visitors would arrive. Eli was in town for work and so was Son. We met Eli and Pat up and he told us he had a friend with him. Funny story. That friend happened to be Angie and we knew her! The funny story is that when she met up with Eli, he told her "my friends are coming out, you'll know her." Angie said, "How do you know I'd know her?" Eli said, "You'll know her, trust me. Everyone knows her." I think it's a huge coincidence that she did happen to know me!
Dinner at Pasty's
Angie and I messed around and took a lot of these photos. I love it when I have a partner in crime to share in my silliness.
After dinner, my buddy Son came to meet us after he was done with his work! We had some drinks and called it a night. Some people had work the next day! Son had his boss' car so he was gracious enough to drive us back to our apartment.
I had so many cupcakes over from Mike's visit that I brought them to work and shared them with the rest of the Xanga team.
Yes, the cupcakes are THAT yummy... My birthday weekend was jam packed with guests, events, friends, and great memories. The first to arrive were Dennis, Jason, and Crystal. We took them out for a night on the town filled with yummy japanese appetizers, beer, and fun.
The boys love their beer
And I loves me gyoza
Night on the town... By the next day, the rest of my guests had arrived... Frances, Anh, and Heather. On Saturday night as a pre birthday bash, we set out to Le Royale in the West Village for some good music and dancing. As my hubby says, I "like to boogie woogie." And I sure do! I had so much fun this night! The only thing that put a damper on it was that someone stole my wallet. The bouncer was so nice in trying to help me find it, but it was of no use. Sigh.
The next day, which was my real birthday, I had a nice brunch planned for the girls at The Cookshop. If you remember in my last post I told you how much I loved Sonya. Well, here's how much... we were drunk one night and she said... "Let's get tattoos together!" And I said... "Okay!" Strangely even when I sobered up, I was still down for it. That week decided, "why not do it this weekend" so we did! When Cuzzie Frances came to New York she said she wanted one too so we all went together. So I got my 2nd tattoo, Cuzzie got her first, and Sonya got her 4th one I believe.
Bandaged up and waiting to heal...
It was so nice! While sitting in my room, everyone came in and sang happy birthday to me and in came Sonya with the birthday cake she bought for me!
 I love fruit cake!
For dinner, I wanted everyone from California to try Bonchon chicken so we all went and enjoyed some yummy chicken. You can see Tina in the below picture because she made it out too. Yay!! Dane came out later when we went karaoke.

After dinner we went to do some good ol singin' to karaoke pop songs. And just like that, my cali guests gone and my birthday weekend was over...
Will update again soon so I can catch up! Ta ta!
