The New York Chronicles: Life of an OC Girl in NY
Entry 34
I wasn't going to blog yet, but I gotta say something. Why is it so hot over there in OC? I saw the pic on Robert's Flickr. According to that chart, it's about 81-83 degrees in OC. Do you know how many degrees it is in NYC right now? It's about 17. I don't know who the suckas are. OC or NYC. Hahaha! I mean. The cold and snow can get pretty inconvenient, but I don't know about wanting heat during January. While getting ready for work yesterday, the Hubby and I were watching the news and we watched as the weatherman gave the weather forecast around the nation. There were snowflakes all over the east coast on the map and in So Cal, there was a big throbbing red thermometer! Haha. LA was the honest place in the nation yesterday. Sheesh. I'm scared for Friday. My friend told me it's going to be 8 degrees. I haven't experienced anything below 10 degrees yet. If you don't see any blogs passed Friday, then please fly to NY and thaw me out.
This is what it looked like this morning outside my window.
And now in the afternoon. All clear! Still cold though.
Ah wells... Onward! People have asked me what I do sometimes on the weekends or at nights. I do a lot of things. Sometimes I have more relaxing nights and sometimes they're a bit crazier. There are events, concerts, all sorts of parties and get-togethers.
To give you a better example (with pictures), here's an example of a crazier night in NYC. Well to me at least. These are one of the nights when one or more persons ends up throwing up. Haha. Read on for our first drunken night of 2009. I think this night was on January 2nd or 3rd. I forget. I wasn't too drunk. I'm still trying to increase my tolerance. I think it's getting better, though. Here goes...
We started out at the Crocodile Lounge on 14th. They give you free pizza for every drink you order. Pretty good deal, eh? In this pic: Dan, Ky, Melvin, Adam, Sonya, Me.
Then on to the Cloister Cafe, also in the East Village. It looks like a church inside with the stained glass windows. Here we had wine and smoked hookahs. Then to Decible on St. Mark's. They have great snacks here and a whole bunch of choices of Sake. It's located underground in a tiny basement, but it's cool. After Decible we headed over to the Backroom in the Lower East Side. I liked this place. It's themed Prohibition style during that time period. So everyone drinks beer in brown paperbags and cocktails in tea cups. Pretty neat!
On the way there, Adam was already passing out in the cab.See the drinks on the table? Pretty cool, huh?
Sonya was having fun snapping pictures of Adam and of herself and the cab driver. LOL.
Both the boys were pretty messed up, actually.
Not my drink. Just takin' a sip.
The girls!Just me acting a lil crazy after leaving the Backroom.
Our bestest buddy ol' pals in NYC... Sonya and Adam.
The last place we went to was called Yellow in Chinatown. We listened to a bunch of people sing karaoke and I realized that the Hubby was blacked out and was barely incoherent so it was time to take him home after this one. I realized this when he left for a long while and the waiter (pictured below) came up to our table and said that our "friend" locked himself in the bathroom and hadn't come out in a while and we should check on him. LOL.
Haha. So that was the end of our night. I put him in a cab and we went home. Dan does not recall going to the last place we went to at all! And he remembers heading to the Backroom, but he doesn't remember being thre. HAHA. I wish I was stronger so I could carry his ass around when he's drunk. *sigh*
Well, now you have an idea of one example of what goes on during a night out in NYC in my world at least. I find it easier to hop on a subway or in a cab to go from bar to bar. I do not miss finding parking in tight LA spots.
See ya next time!
