  • The New York Chronicles:  Life of an OC Girl in NY
    Entry 36

I really need to catch up on blogging. I might have to do a double blog this week or something.

It's a lot warmer today! It was warm yesterday too. Oh it felt so great to feel some weather in the high 30s and low 40s. Oh how I miss thee!

Okay, okay, I know I've been complaining about the cold, but it really has been cold and I'm not making it up. If Alaska is calling it cold then I believe it's unusually friggen cold. I couldn't even imagine going 60 below 0. Aaahhh! I also read another article on wikitravel last week. Below:

    Continental US Faces Deep Freeze

    15 Jan 2009

Arctic temperatures dove into the central & eastern US Thursday as a massive arctic high brought temps as low as -30ºF(-35ºC) and wind chills below -50ºF(-45ºC). Most Midwestern & northern Plains cities are also expecting subzero (ºF,-18ºC) highs. The cold, expected to last through the weekend, brought such temps/windchills (ºC in parentheses) as:

I mean... That's some crazy ish right? Kinda makes you wonder about that Global Warming business. Do not make comments about global warming. I will not go into discussion. Haha. It's weird how California isn't cold at all though.

Here's a photo of Soho when Hubby and I went some time last week.

Sometimes the snow makes the city look so beautiful to me and in the pictures I show, people think it looks pretty amazing, but    there's an ugly side to living in a snowy city and I'll show you in a photo below. It's not very nice to walk in at all as you can imagine. I still feel sorry for that man who I saw slip and fell square on his booty in a mess that looked like this... work clothes and everything.

So anyway, sometimes we like to have quiet nights in. On this one particular night we were invited by Sonya and Adam over to their cute little studio in Chinatown to eat hot pot and play some Wii games. Yummy...

Do not be fooled by this picture. From the looks of it, you may think I'm just a big drunk, but I only took one little shot of sake. I don't know what happened. They thought it would be funny to put that big bottle of sake by my face to make it look like I drank it all. But believe me. If I did, I would not have placed it down upright like that. LOL.

So after an hour and half of sleep I woke up in time to play some video games, but I wasn't very good due to the fact that I was pretty wasted earlier on.

I like hanging out on Sonya and Adam's fire escape. It makes me feel like I'm the Dark Knight.

I was really sick this day and my throat was killing me, but I went out anyway because I suck major b*lls at fighting peer pressure. "C'mon, Anne! You have to go out!"
    -"But I'm sick guys. Really."
-"Don't be a baby! Just go out for a lil bit!"
    -"Okay, lemme get ready."

If looking at this picture doesn't tell you how cold it was, then I give up. Don't look at Adam. Look at everyone else.

Jen is someone I met at the airport. Boys, you need to stop knocking Twilight because that is the book that got Jen and me together. We were at Newark Airport waiting for our flights to go home for Christmas (Dan and me back to OC and Jen back to SF). I saw Jen standing in line reading Twilight and tapped her on the shoulder, "Are you reading Twilight?" "Yeah!" she says. "I read all 4 of them in about a week and half!" I told her. "No way! It's so good!" she replied. From then on, we spent the whole time at the airport together, had lunch together, and shared stories. And since them, we've been good friends.

And Jen introduced us to some of her friends one night at Tribe. They were all VERY cool. In the pic: Dan, Vanessa, Patrick, Mike, Jen, and Me.

I'll be back shortly with another post because I have so much to catch you up on. Love you all!
