The New York Chronicles: Life of an OC Girl in NYC
Entry 8On May 17, New York City had it's annual Dance Parade so I thought it would be fun to march along with the floats. Each float had its own theme and type of music and since I'm not a ballet dancer or tap dancer or anything like that, I joined the house music float sponsored by Club Pacha NYC... haha. The Martinez Brothers (best friend Jen introduced me to) were djing on the float so that made it even better! So off we go...............
My hubby joined in on the action too!

He's a dancin' machine, I tell ya... a machine!

Here you can get a glimpse of The Martinez Brothers djing on their float and the rest of their party posse.
Don't mind us... just comin' through......... (marching and dancing down the streets of Manhattan)

The Martinez Brothers
Elena, Dan, Isai, and Me! Sweaty after all that marching and dancing... Haha.
Later that night, a bunch of us met up at Pacha for the afterparty. Why? Because it was time to PARTAY!!!
Party posse of the night: Elena, Isai, Lisa, Megu, Theresa, Hubby Dan, and Me

Okay, I just wanted to show this picture cuz I wanted you to see my necklace. It's a llama. Haha. Okay sorry... that was random.
Dan and I left early. Yeah, the club ended at noon the next day. There was no way Dan and I were going to make it even til 4am like everyone else did. LOL. Anyway, we left to go get us some tacos. Before we did that we stopped by the apartment to see if Bro Nam wanted to go.
See that window that is lit up on the 2nd story? Yep! That's our apartment. That window and the 2 windows to the right of it and the 2 to the left of it. We'll be moving out of there by the end of the month into a more permanant one though.
So I almost gave up on finding authentic mexican tacos here in Manhattan (we heard there are some in Queens), but Dan found a place only a block away from our apartment. It's a small mexican place, but has been in the newspaper and media in New York for having the most excellent Mexican tacos. $2... almost makes you feel like you're back at home. Not to mention, everyone that works there is so nice and cool to us ... Including Ruben pictured below. I'm holding a sign showing they won best mexican food 2004. Haha. Aside from Ruben, the others that work there don't speak english too well... So I've asked them to let me practice my spanish and they took me very seriously. In the beginning, they'd try to speak english with me, but now they are forcing me to speak spanish even when I speak english too them... haha. That's good... it'll help me become more fluent. Can't beat going to the same place to get tacos and spanish lessons all at once.
Stay tuned.............
Friday, Dan and I went to the Brooklyn Bridge's Birthday Bash. They played the movie, Enchanted, at the park just on the other side of the bridge. It was an amazing set up. So beautiful. I'll write about that next time, but here's a glimpse of what it was like watching a movie out there. There's the Brooklyn Bridge. On the other side, you see Manhattan. Towards the bottom of the photo, you can see the movie screen.
