  • The New York Chronicles:  Life of an OC Girl in NY
    Entry 31

HAPPY NEW YEAR from NEW YORK CITY!

Yesterday, we roomies spent NYE in Brooklyn. We hung out at Prospect Park until midnight and watched the fireworks. There was music and a lot of people, but no tourists. Times Square would have been a little crazy for us. "But why didn't you go to Times Square?! You're in New York City!" you say. Chill! I did that in 2003 and trust me... It's rough standing in one spot for 12 hours and having to bribe different stores to let you pee. Dunkin' Donuts decided to charge everyone $5 to use their nasty ass restroom. And when you gotta pee... especially if you're a girl, you'd pay too. We can't just pee into a water bottle like some guys did. That's capitalistic America at its best wouldn't you say? I feel like this blog will end up being long enough so I'll add the pictures of my NYE to my next post and the rest of my thoughts on 2008 and 2009. Also, I've got to blog about my time with my family and friends while I was in California.

I feel behind on blogging. I haven't even blogged about our Montreal trip we took on Thanksgiving break yet. So horrible! But I have posted it on one of xanga's new partner sites www.tripcrazed.com. Come read it here and leave comments if you can. Montreal, Canada--The Paris of North America. I've got pretty pictures on there too.

Here are some more for your enjoyment.

Yes, Laura--who will now be called Bear-Bear for 2009 (she hibernates all the time-- is wearing an owl beanie on her head. HAHA. Here we are standing up at the chalet with an awesome view of Montreal.

Montreal's Notre Dame. It looks just like the one in Paris, only smaller. It was like I was flown back in time.

This is the Olympic Stadium, used for he Olympics in Montreal back in 1976.

If not that, I'll throw snowballs at you til you run away. You can see one flying towards Bear-Bear. LOL.

Why do I ask that you leave comments on my tripcrazed.com features? It helps me out at my new job/internship. Yup, that's right. I'm a part of the Xanga team now which is pretty cool seeing as I've been a member since 2002. I'll be writing/editing mostly for Tripcrazed--I even wrote the Happy New Year message--but you might see me guest blog on some of their other sites such as Lovelyish. I'm so excited!

I would love your support! Here's another featured post you can comment on. Studying Abroad in Madrid Changed My Life. But since I'm helping to manage this site, it would be nice to have comments on all the posts I put up even from guest bloggers.

Why am I doing an internship? Only a few of my closest know the story, but after much self-reflection over the past many months of temping here and there and not being able to find a job that fit what I used to do, my awesome husband decided to push me into writing. It's something I enjoy and something I would love to improve in and learn more about. I'll keep you updated on my journey in this new and scary frontier. I'm scurred.

Enough about that for now... Before we left to California for the holidays with our beloved friends and family, we celebrated Monica's 26th birthday at Japas 38. Woot woot! We surprised her and she sure was when I took a flying leap at her as she walked in. Haha. We sang karaoke in our own private room complete with yummy buffalo wings, sushi, calamari, a bunch of other food, and an unlimited supply of alcohol which everyone seemed to love.

They made her wear this wig.
