  • Recent Books and Movies ...
    for those who are interested!

P.S. I Love You (the book)
Man, I shed a great many tears reading this book.  While Holly's husband, Gerry, was dying of a brain tumor, he wrote a series of letters for her to read for a year after his death.  These letters helped her cope.  I didn't want it to end.  I felt like I still wanted to be in Holly's life and read about her progress.  Definitely a tear jerker.  I give this book 5 Tear Drops.

P.S. I Love You (the movie)
The movie is a bit different from the book.  There are mixed reviews on this movie (critics didn't like it too much), but I can honestly say I enjoyed it and like the book... the movie brought me to tears as well.  It was heartbreaking to watch Holly try to move on after Gerry's, death.  On a happier note, I now have a new found crush in Gerard Butler (also from the movie 300).  He is soooo cool.  And if you're a Grey's Anatomy fan as well as Denny Duquette's (he's such a cuddly man), you get to see his ass.  LOL.  This movie gets 5 Tears Drops from me.

    The Kite Runner (the book)
I was hesitant to read this book because it didn't appeal to me, but after hearing about it so much I had to pick it up.  It was a good book and very moving.  If you're a fairly empathetic person, this book will tug at your heart strings following the lives of two young best friends in Afghanistan during war time.  4 Heart Strings for the book.

    The Kite Runner (the movie)
I read a review from a critic that commented that a person must be cold to not be moved by this book.  It definitely moved my hubby so much, he couldn't stop thinking about it for days.  I think the movie was well-made and was fairly similar to the book.  Movies can never have every detail books have.  The boy actors were great in this movie and you won't be able to help, but feel for them.  5 Heart Strings!

    Juno
Man, what an awesome movie!  It was hilarious and witty about a 16 year old girl who gets pregnant and decides to keep the baby.  She finds a couple to give the baby away to, but we follow her through her 9 months of pregnancy.  Ellen Page (actress) gets 5 Funny Bones!  Juno gets 5 Funny Bones!

  • Happy Congratubirthday to Laura, my Goosey!

Laura graduated with her bachelor's from Cal State Long Beach (Go Beach!) and turned 25 years old.  She wanted to have a Winter Wonderland themed party and a Winter Wonderland themed party, she got.  Laura always knows how to throw a partay... not just parTY, but parTAY.  Once again we take the fesitvities to Duy's house!  And this time she had help from her oh so proud boyfriend and owner of the house.   There was a photo backdrop complete with snowman and tree, great photography (Thao Vu Photography), great music (a la Rob), great food (a la Goosey), and great company (a la everyone else!).  Great party guys... and uhh sorry I fell asleep for however long it was... LOL.  I hope you had a great time too, Goosey!  Love y ou!

Time for photos! (More here at Thaovu.com)

  • Update from my post below on Colleen's birthday...

Soooooo, I did a teensy weensy something to Colleen on her birthday.  I tried to hide what I did and Jeremy (her hubby) was helping me keep my secret for a while and I think he's in trouble too... LOL!  But this girl is relentless man!  I thought she would have forgotten by now... but nooooo.  She won't forget what happened and she is going around trying to find the guilty person of the night.  I couldn't handle it anymore and so I confessed today!  What?!  She kept patronizing me and telling me she's going to find that person and when she does, that person is going to PAY!  Well, that person is me, OKAY!  Are you happy?!  I just didn't want you to find out from someone else.  Like I said... Remember that I love you and that you love me and we can't let anything get in the way of love.  I mean, look at how happy we are at that photo in the entry below... smiling and loving each other.  *sigh*

If this photo is floating around, I just  HAD to confess, right?  There might be others with my face on it!  If you don't know what you're looking for, just look for that beautiful halo being created above this sweet sweet angel who wouldn't ever take revenge on her dear dear Anne.  This entry is partly a cry for help.
Haylp!  I'm scurred for me loife!

  • Happy 28th Birthday to my dear Colleeny!
This entry is late, since her birthday was on January 5th... LOL.  We celebrated her birthday on the same day at her mom's house.  She had a tennis Wii tournament during her birthday and Nam and I signed up as partners.  Nam and I went all the way to the top against the champions, but of course they won.  Her brothers were the owners of the house and the owners of that game so they probably play it all day and in their sleep too... haha.  Anyway, the funnier thing is that I have probably played the wii once so we were quite surprised that our luck took us to the top.  We were able to win some prizes, though... haha.  Thanks for a fun great time, Colleen!  I love you!

    Go Ducks!
Last week, Jeremy won tickets at his work to a Mighty Ducks game at the Pond.  I've never been to a hockey game and don't know much about hockey, but what I do know is that hockey fans are hard-fricken-core!  In Toronto when I worked an event at the Hockey Hall of Fame, we had the museum take out the Stanley Cup for our guests to take pictures with and people were kissing that thing and hugging it like it was a hot piece of ass.  I'm serious!  We also got to hang out in a box suite at the game and have awesome seats .  Hubby couldn't come due to studying for his CPA exam at the end of this month so I took Cuzzie along.  Hockey games are actually kinda fun.  I even saw a fight... a good one... a real manly man of a fight... haha.  We had a fantabulous time watching our first hockey game and goofing off in the suite as you will see in the photos... LOL!

    VIP BABY!

    Let the good times roll!!

  • KC's Baby Shower for "Baby Chloe!"

We all gathered at the Bayside Restaurant in Newport Beach for this event.  Thaoie did a great job decorating and planning.  We ate yummy food (I, myself, had the salmon and boyee was it Mmm mm mmmm), and played games.  We also bonded about all things babies!  Kim was pregnant, Helen was pregnant, Duy's aunt Christine was pregnant, baby Elise came in, Mai brought baby Mylan... MAN!  That kinda stuff gives me the baby bug.  Haha.  Our day will come in the next couple years!

Once again, Congrats to Kim and Elvis!

Here are some photos from Thaoie, otherwise known as Thao Vu of Thao Vu Photography.  As you all have known for a while, I'm one of Thaoie's biggest fans so if you ever need photography, book Thao by visiting www.ThaoVu.com

  • Happy Belated New Year!

Welcome to my first post of the new year.  Gettin' off to a slow start already... haha.  Not to mention I have major senioritis in the work version.  I have only have 4 weeks of work left here, but I'm going to do my best to finish my projects before I leave.  Don't want my boss telling my next company what a jerk I am.  I think that's my cue to finish this up and get back to work.  After........ I post some pics.

Pic Below:  Me and the gang at some bar in San Diego on New Year's Eve.  Thanks to Will and Patty we had a suite at the Hilton right in the Gaslamp District.  I would say we hand a grand ol time.

If you can ever help it, do not get a room across from these two.  For some reason they get the notion that people in hotel rooms across the way would like to see their pale & flat asian asses (note: using words like pale & flat to describe asses = no bueno... in other words, not Brad Pitt's ass.  Watch Troy if ya don't know what I mean and if ya know what I mean then ya know what I mean... Oooh boyeee!).  They thought they were mooning hot girls, but Cuzzie Frances says differently.  It shall remain a mystery for all the days of our lives.

Yesterday afternoon, one of my husband's bestest friends left to go back to Iraq for another 5 months.  After he got back to work, he told me how sad he was to see Will go and that he couldn't even bear to watch his childhood friend go into the gate.  He described how his heart broke to see Patty (Will's wife) sobbing and to see his Godfather (Will's dad) and his family so sad.  He noticed his Goddaughter, Kailyn (Will's daughter) crying after her daddy left and didn't know how to console her.  He knows that his sadness can't compare to Will's wife and family which made his heart break even more.  Let's all pray that Will's time will go by fast so he can come home and be with his family.

  • OMG Steph!  You have 1 more week until you tie the knot!!!

We celebrated Steph's bridal shower at The Clubhouse in Costa Mesa.  The private room we were in made it an intimate setting and the food was awesome!  Thanks to Lucy for planning everything.  We made scrapbook pages, played games, enjoyed our meals, and presented Steph with her presents.  Time sure flies!

Of course if you want to see the rest of the pictures, visit Thaoie's!

  • Congrutulations Will and Patty!
Congrats on your new baby brother, Kay!
Welcome to the outside world, Justin Ryan.  You're in the big leagues now, buddy!

Justin Ryan Pham was born yesterday.  I can already tell he'll be handsome just like his daddy.  Dan and I went in for a visit after work.  Of course Uncle Dan HAD to get Justin his first basketball (made of plush, of course.)  Patty looked awfully good for just having a baby.  Her hair was curled all nicely and everything.  I'm going to have to remember to make sure my hair is always done nicely so that when I go into the hospital, I'll look nice too... Haha.  Oh boy... I can't just help, but want a little bundle of joy for myself when I see those lil tykes.  As we walked out of the hospital, I held Dan's hand and asked... "So, honey... you want a baby now?"  Haha.... of course we're not ready because we have some other things we have to accomplish first, but having our friends be great examples to us surely makes us excited to be parents one day, also.

Once again... Congratulations Will and Patty!

Patty!  You did a great job these 9 months with handling everything on your own!  We're proud of you.  Send Dan and me the picture of Justin and us, when you're up and about.  Thanks!

  • Need to catch up!

We celebrated Huyen's 26th birthday at a bar in Newport Beach.  Huyen looked amazing with her hair and make up done... not to mention her sexy new dress.  It was great fun seeing so many old faces and catching up with everyone's lives.  After the bar, we drove over to Huyen's house and we all hung out in Anh's room until 4am.  What can I say... in good company, time flies.

Here she is!  The sexy lady!

For Kim's 25th birthday, Elvis threw her a party at the restaurant, Kimera.  It was a great setting with great food and the price wasn't too bad either.  We filled up a whole private patio area with our own backdoor (for the boys who drank too much to go outside and yack... LOL.)  We started out with drinks and appetizers and enjoyed our meals and good company.  Before we knew it, it was 11pm already!

    Sharing a moment together.

    All the girls!

For Stephanie's Bachelorette, the girls did some wine tasting in Temecula, some spa treatments, and on to Club Silk at Pechanga Casino.  Laura and I showed up for the club part.  It's always fun getting dolled up with a bunch of girls for a night out.  Who says, married women can't party anymore?  I had a great time celebrating with Steph and the rest of the girls.
